Co-60 Preparation (Gamma Radiation)

Cobalt-60 source emitting gamma and beta radiation, with a nominal activity of 1 µCi (37 kBq) and a half-life of 5.3 years. The beta radiation is absorbed by the radiation window; the gamma rays have energies of 1.17 and 1.33 MeV. Supplied in a sealed acrylic-glass cylinder with a radiation warning label and two lead cylinders for radiation protection; cylinder dimensions are 30 mm diameter × 12 mm high.
