Foucault Pendulum

This Foucault pendulum demonstrates pendulum oscillations, Earth’s rotation and the Coriolis force by observing the rotation of its oscillation plane. A Charron ring prevents elliptical motion, while the thread shadow is projected onto a protractor scale for accurate reading. An adjustable electromagnetic drive compensates damping during extended observation; pendulum length is 1200 mm.
