Gears, Assorted Colours

This set contains 80 gears with 10, 20, 30 and 40 teeth, together with 20 racks of 75 mm, supplied in a range of colours and sized to fit 4 mm axles. In physics/chemistry and technology it lets pupils explore mechanical systems and the relationship between force, speed and motion, experimenting with gear ratios, torque and direction of rotation in both simple and more complex arrangements. In technology projects the gears can be built into models, robots or machines where gear systems play a central role, and they are equally useful in engineering and workshop lessons on prototypes and mechanical solutions.
