Leakage current clamp meter, 100 µA resolution, P 1636

The P 1636 is a leakage current clamp for measuring small AC currents, displayed with a resolution down to 100 µA. It measures the current indirectly via the surrounding magnetic field when the clamp jaws enclose the current-carrying conductor (single wire). Since the incoming and outgoing currents cancel each other's magnetic fields, enclosing all the conductors of a line measures the leakage current. In everyday work, it is well suited to determining leakage currents in circuits or switchgear assemblies, which can occur due to poor insulation or ageing cables.

Besides small currents, the P 1636 also measures larger AC currents up to 200 A with 0.1 A resolution, making it suitable for hobby, trade and industrial use.
