Osteoporosis Didactic Model
An impressive didactic model for comparing osteoporotic and healthy thoracic vertebrae — ideal for medical study and patient consultation. It shows the 11th and 12th thoracic vertebrae: on the left, sequential osteoporotic vertebrae with narrowed intervertebral discs, the upper one split in the middle with a magnetically attached half that lifts off to reveal the cut surfaces, the collapsed (sintered) upper vertebral body and degenerative osteophytes. On the right, two corresponding healthy vertebrae with an intervertebral disc are provided for comparison, again with a removable magnetic half. A detail on the base shows two 3D micro-CT images from bone biopsies, illustrating the lower density of osteoporotic bone compared with healthy bone.
