Replica Homo steinheimensis Skull (Berkhemer, 1936)
Detailed cast from Berkhemer’s 1936 reconstruction of the Steinheim skull without the mandible, based on scientific copies from the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University collection. The model represents Homo steinheimensis, regarded as a forerunner of Neanderthals or an ancient Homo sapiens. The original was found in 1933 in a gravel pit near Steinheim an der Murr, Germany, and is approximately 250,000 years old.
