Thomson e/m Tube, Type S
The Thomson e/m tube is used to investigate the motion of electrons in electric and magnetic fields. It has a fluorescent screen and built-in capacitor plates, so pupils can work with both electric deflection and magnetic influence. The tube must be used with holder 508560 and requires three external voltage sources: an anode voltage up to 5 kV, a deflection voltage of 350 V and a filament voltage up to 7.5 V. In physics lessons it is used to determine the e/m ratio and to demonstrate the deflection of electron beams and velocity filters, giving pupils practical insight into fundamental particle and field principles.
