Thomson Tube, Electron Deflection Tube, Type S
This high-vacuum Thomson tube has an electron gun, focusing-electrode system, tungsten filament, cylindrical anode and integral deflection plates. The electron beam can be deflected electrostatically or magnetically with Type S Helmholtz coils. A tilted 1 cm-grid mica screen makes the beam path visible for studying electric and magnetic deflection, velocity selection and the specific electron charge e/m.
