Sample preparation

Microwave digestion workstation, TANK

Microwave digestion workstation for sample preparation in closed vessels. Microwaves penetrate and activate the reagents and samples in the closed vessels; the higher pressure and reaction temperature in the digestion vessel greatly speed up the reaction and shorten sample preparation time. Microwave digestion is a widely used digestion technique in many fields.

  • Safety and corrosion resistance: furnace cavity of grade 316L stainless steel with a 5-year warranty; 3D-adjustable, explosion-proof safety door with a damper and a choke against microwave leakage, self-sealing, impact-resistant and with an interlock mechanism
  • Outer vessels of aerospace-grade composite fibre, fully coated with PFA, offer higher corrosion and pressure resistance than PEEK; pressure resistance of 70 MPa and heat resistance of 600 °C ensure safe operation under extreme conditions
  • The TANK 40 uses dual-magnetron inverter control and high-frequency closed-loop PID control: continuous, non-pulsed microwave output, a more uniform microwave field in the cavity, higher energy efficiency and consistent digestion of all samples
  • Two LCD screens: the 7-inch colour LCD touchscreen shows real-time data such as temperature, power, time and step, and switches quickly to curve view so the user can follow the run; the second 7-inch colour LCD screen gives a clear, real-time view of the furnace cavity
  • USB, network port and Wi-Fi interfaces: with permission, the instrument can be operated and monitored remotely from a computer or tablet
  • Pressure control in every vessel: the high-pressure digestion vessels use elastic pressure relief and self-sealing; in normal operation the vessel is fully sealed without leakage, and on overpressure the pressure is released safely together with excess reaction gas (CO2 and nitrogen oxides), after which the vessel reseals immediately so subsequent runs proceed smoothly
  • Precise temperature control and monitoring in every vessel: non-contact mid-infrared sensors at the bottom monitor and display the real-time temperature of the sample solution in each digestion vessel; if an abnormal temperature is detected, microwave emission stops immediately and an alarm sounds
  • Software compliant with FDA 21 CFR Part 11: Android operating system with electronic signature, hierarchical permissions and audit trail; the software automatically identifies the rotor model and counts the vessels, with no manual counting or input
  • Various supporting tools are available to reduce the operator's workload and speed up sample preparation; for example, a mobile tool trolley transfers the loaded rotor into and out of the furnace cavity, so the operator does not handle the digestion vessels directly
