Rheostat, 10 Ω, 4 A

A robust, enclosed slide resistor with its resistance element wound on a stable ceramic tube and fitted with three safety sockets, so it can serve as both a variable resistor and a voltage divider. It can be overloaded by 100% for short periods (up to 4 minutes). The resistance is 10 Ω, rated for a current of 4 A and a power of 160 W. It is well suited to electricity and circuit experiments — regulating current and voltage, studying load characteristics and taking power measurements.
